Monosteel knives:
Primarily I use high carbon steel for the blades. I order my steel type specifically depending on the knife, its uses, and the designs I have in mind. With excellent sharpness and edge retention the high carbon steel I use will, over time, develop its own unique patina which cannot be achieved in any other way but with use, it then tells its own story. I will also use brass or copper to add different aspects and contrasts and colours with the handles.
Copper knives:
This is where my true love of knifemaking comes to the fore. Using contrasting layers of high carbon knife steel I am able to forge weld them together to create stunning unique patterns and styles that set pattern welded blades in a class all of their own.
